1.2 Strategic Planning
Candidates facilitate the design, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans. (PSC 1.2/ISTE 1b)
Reflection: The SWOT Analysis was created to facilitate the design and development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of a technology-infused strategic plan. The SWOT Analysis was written based on the eight ISTE Essential Conditions. For each condition, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats was listed for Williams Middle School. Many of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats were determined from the School Improvement Plan and Technology Plan. The contributions for this artifact included establishing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for the Essential Conditions of Williams Middle School, writing the current realities, and writing the analysis of each condition.
This artifact indicates my mastery in facilitating the design and development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of a technology-infused strategic plan. Each Essential Condition focuses on many areas of technology and how it is implemented into classrooms, schools, and the community. A plan was designed and developed according to what technological according to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that occur at the school. Through implementation of the plan, I devised a list of the current realities and needs. During the upcoming school year, I will share the plan with administration and technology committee. During the sharing process, I will communicate the major weaknesses and threats that need to be addressed. The plan will then be evaluated by the administration and technology committee before being given to the entire faculty.
Completing this artifact helped me to understand the weaknesses and threats of Williams Middle School. I knew Williams had some weaknesses and threats, but not as many that were include for each Essential Condition. To improve the quality of the artifact, I would choose a certain number of weaknesses and threats for each Essential Condition to focus on. By focuses on a certain number of concerns, there will be a better chance of a solution for each weakness and threat.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the school involvement. The school involvement was impacted by the administration and technology committee being able to distribute the weaknesses and threats to the staff. The staff could think about ways to solve the situation. To assess the impact, select group of the faculty would meet with the administration and technology committee to discuss possible solutions for the weaknesses and threats of each condition. The group would then be asked to communicate the solutions with each team of teachers in the school.
