Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
Artifact: Field Experience
Reflection:
The Technology Lesson Plan Field Experience was written using the incorporation of content standards, technology standards, and technological tools. The field experience included three activities that were each linked to one or more Professional Standards Commission Technology Standards. The field experience log listed the total number of hours it took for me to complete the assignment. Three questions were included at the end of the log. The questions ask you to describe the artifact, relate the artifact to knowledge, skills, and dispositions, and ask how the artifact impacts the learning and how it is assessed. The contributions for this artifact included developing the lesson plan, completing the log, and answering the reflection question.
This artifact demonstrates mastery through the field experience being synthesized and applied to the content, professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions. The field experience is based on the content and technology standards. The lesson provides digital tools through the use of Edmodo, QR codes, Windows Movie Maker, and You Tube that create an authentic environment for learning. The learning is facilitated by the effective use of instructional design in digital tools. The teacher must be knowledgeable in solving software issues and know how to solve troubleshooting issues in the classroom. They must also know the safe and ethical uses of technology and how to support the understanding of the diversity and culture of all students.
Through the implementation of this field experience, I learned that every lesson needs to incorporate knowledge, skills, and disposition. If all three of these skills occur, the teacher can act as the facilitator and ensure an authentic learning experience for every student. To improve the quality of this artifact, I would offer more time in the activity for the students to have an authentic learning experience.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the students’ learning. The students’ learning was impacted through the students being able to use the digital tools to improve their learning. The impact was assessed through the students being able to complete the activity using the digital tools and being graded based on a rubric.
