Artifact: Vision Paper (ITEC 7410)
Reflection:
The Vision Paper was completed to illustrate how shared vision can be facilitated through the development and implementation at Williams Middle School in Colquitt County. The shared vision was adapted from the beliefs of the ISTE Factors for Successful Technology Implementation, School Improvement Plan, and School Technology Plan. A survey was also developed, but has not been implemented to the faculty of Williams Middle yet. The survey was written based on the ISTE Essential Conditions. The contributions for this artifact included determining what the shared vision was based on the School Improvement and Technology Plan, creating the survey, and writing the vision paper.
This artifact demonstrates mastery through the facilitation of the development and implementation of the Williams Middle shared vision. The vision was developed based on the vision and technology vision of the school. The schools vision and technology vision is located in the Williams School Improvement Plan and Williams Technology Plan. The ISTE 7 Factors for Successful Technology Implementation also aided in defining the shared vision for the school. The vision paper defined the vision for the school, administration, technology coach, teacher, students, parents, and support staff. To implement the shared vision, the faculty will complete a survey. The survey was created based on the fourteen necessary condition needed for technology in learning.
Through the implementation of this artifact, I learned that the vision paper needs to be provided to the entire faculty when the survey is distributed. All teachers need to be aware of what the different roles are and what is expected of them. By sending the vision paper with the survey, the teachers are also able to understand the meaning of the survey questions. The vision paper gives a brief overview of how technology should be implemented.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the faculty development. The development of the faculty was impacted by the faculty’s understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each group. The impact of this artifact can be assessed by the completion of the survey. For the faculty to fully understand the shared vision, they will be able to read the vision and answer the questions from the survey.
