6.2 Reflection
Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences. (PSC 6.2/ISTE 6c)
Artifact: Weebly Blog
Reflection:
The Weebly Blog was written over several courses while attending Kennesaw State University. Each blog was based on a technology tool or technique that would improve student learning or a course reflection. Descriptions of how I used the techniques or tools to enhance my best practices were also included in each blog entry. Each blog was also written on a specific tool or resource. The topics included Diversity, Equitable Access, Internet Safety, Screencasting, Edmodo, Classrooms 2.0, Google Docs, You Tube, podcasting, Creative Commons, social bookmarking, Wikis, and blogging. The contributions for this artifact included writing the blogs, improving student learning with the resources, and enhancing my best practices.
This artifact demonstrates mastery by showing my ability to evaluate and reflect on my professional practice. For each blog, I included how each tool can be implemented into my classroom to aid in student understanding and meet the needs of all students. The blogs also provide examples that can be adapted by other teachers from different subject areas and grade levels.
Through the implementation of this artifact, I learned that there are many technology tools that can be used in math classrooms. By writing these blogs, I learned that blogging, Google Docs, and Flickr can be incorporated in all content classes including math. In math, students can blog with other students and discuss different ways to solve math problems, Google Docs will allow students to work on math project while away from school, and Flickr provides students with fair use photos that can be used in the math classroom. To improve this artifact, I would include more ways on the blogs to incorporate each technology tool or resource into my math classroom.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the learning of the students. The learning was impacted by the student’s being able to improve their learning and understanding using the tools mentioned in the blog responses. The impact was assessed by how well the students preformed on the end of the unit assessments when using the tools during the unit.
