Artifact: Technology Workshop (ITEC 7460)
Reflection:
The Technology Workshop was completed with a partner to demonstrate my ability to perform a professional development that is technology-based. For this artifact, a group of 7 teachers met after school to learn how NearPod can be used in the classroom. The teachers brought their own devices to use and were shown how to create and use a presentation. The contributions for this artifact included developing the workshop and implementing the resources for the professional development.
This artifact demonstrates mastery by showing the teachers ability to develop and implement a professional development with the use of technology. The professional development was a technology workshop on NearPod. Duirng the workshop, a sample presentation was developed. The sample presentation questions included content questions from CCGPS Reading, Language Arts, and Math. The workshop was conducted in a classroom after school hours with face-to-face communication with the group of teachers. During the professional development, my partner and I discussed ways to use NearPod in the classroom to aid in teaching, learning, and for assessments. NearPod allows teacher to present content information to the students on their own device, they are able to actively participate during instruction, and students can answer questions that can act as a formative assessment and the results are sent to the teacher.
Through the implementation of this artifact, I learned that some teachers had not heard of NearPod. Many found it very useful and said they would try to resources in their classroom. To improve this artifact, I would offer a follow-up with all the teachers who participated in the workshop. I would discuss with each teacher how or if they plan to use NearPod and determine if some teachers have already used the resources.
The work that went into creating this artifact impacted the development of the faculty. The faculty development was impacted through the faculty that attended the workshop being able to use NearPod during instruction and assessments. The impact was assessed by providing a survey to the workshop members at the end of the professional development.
